  • [Apr 2014] Article in IEEE TVCG: Our article "Model Estimation and Selection towards Unconstrained Real-Time Tracking and Mapping"—an extension of the paper which won the Best Paper Award at ISMAR 2012—has been published in the IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG).

  • [Mar 2014] Four Eyes Lab show research to junior high and high school Science Expo participants: On March 7, the Four Eyes Lab (led by PhD students Saiph Savage and Ben Nuernberger) participated in a UCSB outreach event called Science Expo, where we presented our areas of research to junior high and high school students from the Santa Barbara area who were competing in the Santa Barbara County Science Fair. The students got to hear about our work in augmented reality and social computing, and they asked lots of good questions.   Pictures from the afternoon of lab visits (including the Four Eyes Lab and three others) can be found here.
  • [Mar 2014] IEEE CogSIMA Best Paper Award: Congratulations to James Schaffer, John O'Donovan and Tobias Hollerer. Their paper entitled "Decision-making in Abstract Trust Games: A User Interface Perspective" won the best paper award at the IEEE International Inter-Disciplinary Conference on Cognitive Methods in Situation Awareness and Decision Support (CogSIMA) March 3-6 2014, San Antonio, TX, USA.  (This paper was in collaboration with researchers from CMU, ARL and SA Technologies Inc.)

  • [Oct 2013] Science Outreach Programs: PhD students Christopher Hall and Saiph Savage volunteered in the Career Day at Goleta Valley Junior High School, with the purpose of encouraging teens to study computer science.
  • [Oct 2013] Graduate Student Workshop on Computing: The Computer Science department's Graduate Student Workshop on Computing, a workshop entirely organized by the department's graduate students, took place today (Oct. 4), under active participation of the lab: PhD candidate Saiph Savage was the Industry Liason and  won Outstanding Reviewer Award; PhD student Steffen Gauglitz won 2nd place Best Paper Award.
